Ever since I was a child and put my younger brother in a “school”, I have longed to be a teacher. I started in my early 20s in the Montessori stream of education and quickly found the Waldorf tradition. I spent many happy years training to be a Waldorf Grades Teacher.
In the meantime, I had a child and opened a Waldorf-inspired home daycare. I started with 3 children including my daughter and after word spread of the magic I and the children were creating, I hired an assistant to help me care for 7 children. Even then I wrote daily emails to the parents regarding the food, mood, and nap schedule of their children and helped them make informed decisions about parenting in the early years.
My dream of teaching was realized when I began in the first grade with a Waldorf class in my little town of Viroqua, Wisconsin. By the time I handed them to an upper grades teacher, I had fallen in love all over again with the inspiration of teaching children.
I now tutor grades 2nd through 10th, and am looking into upper-grade tutor certification programs. I have lots of shining reviews from excellent references; I look forward to meeting you and your student soon!
